The Bureau of Land Management is beginning a bank stabilization project at the Wood River Wetlands in Klamath Falls, Ore, to stop erosion that is threatening a critical stream gauge and a bridge on Wood River Dike Road. Crews will place large wood debris along the bank, partially burying the logs and extending root wads into the water to slow flow and reduce erosion. After the wood is installed, native riparian vegetation will be planted and seeded to reinforce the bank. Heavy equipment will be staged as early as November 1, and hunters should expect temporary road closures and increased traffic near the site during construction.
